Finally Paint is a new fine art medium for conscientious artists and creatives who are ready to see their values shown in their art supplies.  Finally Paint is a water-soluble wax-based paint and is non-toxic, non-plastic, zero-waste, ready-to-use, water resistant, and made of an entirely natural base.

Finally Paint is available in a palette of vibrant colors from high-quality pigments in a water-miscible wax base that does not require heat or solvents.  Their ease of use make them instantly familiar to painters, but they also have unique qualities that offer the artist a huge range of expressive possibilities and open up a new range of creative exploration.

When thinned with water, Finally paints can produce vibrant watercolor effects and dry quickly so you can build up layers without long waiting times. The  wax base also easily allows for thick impastos and retains peaks and brush strokes, offering a wide diversity of textural exploration. Incorporate with encaustic paints and play with heat or use as you would acrylic.  Final paintings can be set with a heat gun or hair drier (or by setting in the sun!), to allow the wax layers to fuse. When set, Finally paints have highly water-resistant matte finish, which can be polished for a bright luster and sheen.

I had this problem...

A couple years ago I started delving into the world of zero-waste. I realized that each piece of disposable plastic I used was toxic, and would pollute the planet until long after me and my future children were dead. Every toothbrush I’ve ever used in my life is still lying around somewhere! I knew I need to start to make a change in my lifestyle to move towards a more sustainable way of living.
But just as I was beginning to dig into this new way of life, I discovered a problem. While there were loads of zero-waste products and blog posts for your bulk-bag grocery shopping, DIY cleaning products,  reducing waste in your kitchen, and no-plastic hair products, there was little to nothing on art supplies!!

As an artist, I was stunned.

I looked around at my studio; at my acrylic paint, hot glue sticks, varieties of tape, modeling clay, PVA glue, and so many other supplies made from plastic or derived from the petrochemical industry.  What was an “artivist” to do? Well, as my problem-solving instinct naturally goes, my first thought was

“Could I just make my own?”

And so the Finally Art Collection was born! Beginning with Finally Paints, we bring you paints that are as zero-waste as we can make them, with no materials from the petrochemical industry and arriving in reusable glass jars. But not only that, our paints contain nothing harmful— no toxic pigments, nasty additives, solvents, VOCs, parabens, you name it.
Finally Paints are the next generation of paint products, for the artist that cares.

We’re committed to making a paint that has you breathing a sigh of relief and saying,

“Finally!”

Usage Tips

… To keep the paint moist in the jar, scoop the amount you need out onto your palette with a palette knife and close the lid tightly when not in use. A small spray bottle can also be helpful to keep the paints on your palette moist during long painting periods. If you experience your paints thickening in the jar, you can add a little water and mix thoroughly to rehydrate.

… The paint dries on your painting as the water evaporates, so it is touch-dry within a short amount of time and you can apply multiple layers relatively quickly. At this point it can be easily reworked and re-opened with a little water. Let it dry and cure for couple days (depending on how thick it is) for it to be waterproof.

…  To assist with curing and permanently set the paint, heat the painting with a hair dryer, heat gun, or by setting it in the sun a couple hours. This is not necessary, but fuses the layers of wax together and sets the painting permanently.

… Finally Paint dries with a wonderful matte finish. For a finish with a brighter luster and sheen, polish the wax with a soft cloth after it has fully cured.

…Finally Paint is suitable on a wide variety of supports, including canvas, stone, ceramic, wood, metal, paper, and more. While it applies and dries to fabric well, it is not recommended as a fabric paint as it will come off with soap and water.

…If it gets on your clothes or other surfaces where it is unwanted, it washes out easily with soap. Safe for kids and faces- again, wash with soap to clean!

…To encourage zero-waste practices, we offer a 10% DISCOUNT off your next paint purchase if you reuse your jar! Post a picture of your creative reuse and tag @magicbeestudio on Instagram or Facebook and I’ll send you your coupon! Learn more and find ideas of ways to upcycle your jar here!
